Ford Fog Lamps Wiring Diagram 086-002 - Fog Lamp Relay, Switch & Circuits
Wiring diagram for fog lamps showing the fog lamp relay, central and battery junction boxes, switch, and left/right fog lamps with annotations.
This document is a Ford factory-style wiring diagram, page "086-002 Fog Lamps," showing the complete fog lamp circuit. Power enters on circuit 13 RD/BK from connector C214 (page 86-1) into the Central Junction Box, which contains fuses 26 (10A), 28 (10A), and 27 (5A, highlighted). A second hot-at-all-times feed comes from fuse 9 (15A) in the Battery Junction Box (page 13-3) via circuit 474 OG/LG, which also feeds the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) resistor (page 97-2) through connector C142. The Fog Lamp Relay, located in the Battery Junction Box, directs power on circuit 478 TN/OG through splice S147 to the Left Fog Lamp (C144) and Right Fog Lamp (C134), which ground on circuit 57 BK through S104 to G103. The Main Light Switch (page 13-17, switch testing on page 149-1) energizes the relay via circuit 275 YE through connectors C160M/C160F and C246, and includes the Fog On indicator; switch grounds run through S204 to G200 and S105 to G102. Handwritten annotations note that power comes from the MFS (multi-function switch) in the low position only, that the brown wire is the parking lamp circuit, and that a section "can remove after splice." Wire colors, splice points, connector numbers, and ground locations are all identified.

Frequently asked questions
- What fuse powers the fog lamp relay circuit?
- The diagram shows a hot-at-all-times feed from fuse 9 (15A) in the Battery Junction Box (page 13-3) on circuit 474 OG/LG. The Central Junction Box side of the circuit uses fuses 26 (10A), 28 (10A), and 27 (5A).
- What wire color feeds the fog lamps themselves?
- Circuit 478 TN/OG (tan/orange) runs from the Fog Lamp Relay through splice S147 to the left fog lamp (connector C144) and right fog lamp (connector C134).
- Where is the fog lamp relay located?
- The Fog Lamp Relay is shown inside the Battery Junction Box.
- How do the fog lamps get their ground?
- Both fog lamps ground on circuit 57 BK, joining at splice S104 and running to ground G103 (see Grounds page 10-6). The Main Light Switch grounds through S204 to G200 (page 10-5), and another 57 BK ground goes through S105 to G102.
- When do the fog lamps receive power according to the annotations?
- A handwritten note states power comes from the MFS (multi-function switch) in the low position only, and the brown wire is identified as the parking lamp circuit.
