Ford E4OD Shift Kit Instructions Page 3 - Accumulator Springs & Solenoid Pack

This is Page 3 of a shift-kit / valve body reprogramming instruction sheet for the Ford E4OD automatic transmission (document code E4OD-HD2, dated 13 Feb 04). It covers five installation steps. Step 1: Accumulator Valve Body: remove the line mod valve and accumulator valve, then drill two.076-.093" holes through the casting at the marked "X's" (no drilling needed if the casting already has a slot). Step 2: install new springs into the 4th and 3rd accumulator pistons, three ORANGE springs for the 4th, and SILVER-ORANGE-WHITE-ORANGE for the 3rd. Step 3: install the furnished steel line regulator valve (also sold separately as E4-VL-LR3, pack of 3) and 2nd accumulator springs (three ORANGE plus SILVER, with a reused spring). Step 4: install the short BLUE spring with the line mod and accumulator valve assembly. Step 5: Solenoid Pack: if the casting has hole "EX," install the solenoid pack as-is; if not, drill six 1/8" holes as shown plus one more hole through the partition under "X." Illustrations show the valve body castings, exploded valve/spring stacks, and numbered drill locations 1-6.
