Ford Standard Wire Color Code Chart Circuits 835-998 (1979 Bronco Wiring)
Continued wire color code reference covering breakerless/transistor ignition (ballast resistor, pick-up coil), starter relay and speed/cruise control circuits with wire colors.
This document is a scanned page from the Introduction section of a Ford wiring reference, titled "Standard Wire Color Code Chart (Continued)." It lists Ford standard circuit numbers 835 through 998, each with a functional description of what the circuit connects (for example, circuit 850 "Ballast Resistor Coil Term. to Ign. Coil Batt. Term." or circuit 949 "Flasher to L.H. Lamp") and, for the left-hand column (circuits 835–907), the standard wire color or color/stripe combination such as Red-White Stripe, Blue-White Stripe, or Black-Yellow Stripe. Circuits covered include starter and charging system wiring (starter relay, ballast resistor, transistor ignition, alternator/regulator), speed control (cruise) circuits, windshield wiper and washer circuits, heater/blower and A/C circuits, turn signal relays, headlamp beams, emission modulator circuits, and tractor-trailer/heavy-truck circuits. The right-hand column (circuits 908–998) has descriptions truncated at the scan's right edge and its color column is not visible. A reader can use this chart to identify what a given numbered circuit does and, for circuits 835–907, what wire color to look for when tracing Ford wiring. This is page 4 of a multi-page wire color code set uploaded to a 1979 Ford Bronco gallery.

Frequently asked questions
- What wire color is Ford circuit 850, ballast resistor coil terminal to ignition coil battery terminal?
- According to the chart, circuit 850 (Ballast Resistor Coil Term. to Ign. Coil Batt. Term.) is Brown.
- What circuit numbers do the Ford turn signal relay wires use?
- Circuits 985 (relay to left turn signal), 986 (relay to right turn signal), 987 (relay to left turn can...), and 988 (relay to right turn ca...); descriptions are partially cut off at the scan edge. Also 948 is Flasher to R.H. Lamp and 949 is Flasher to L.H. Lamp.
- What color is circuit 904, ignition switch (coil/accy.) to alternator regulator (ign. term.)?
- The chart lists circuit 904 as Green-Red Stripe.
- Which circuits cover the windshield wiper switch-to-relay wiring and their colors?
- Circuits 888 (Red), 889 (Red), 890 (Green), 892 (Yellow-Black Stripe) are W/Shield Wiper Switch to Relay; 891 (Yellow) and 893 (Blue) are W/Shield Wiper Motor to Relay.
- What does circuit 918 connect?
- Circuit 918 runs from the ignition switch to the transmission neutral switch (IGN. SW. TO TRANS. NEUTRAL SW.).
