The 1998 Ford Falcon marks a generational handover at Ford Australia, from the EL series to the AU launched in September 1998. The AU introduced New Edge styling, a stiffer body, and double-wishbone independent rear suspension on some models, while carrying over the 4.0 litre Intech six and 5.0 litre Windsor V8. Any 1998 Falcon is Australian; the American Falcon line had ended in 1970.
