This document is page 25-5 of a Ford wiring diagram set covering Engine Controls for the 5.8L engine. It shows the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) circuit and the clutch pedal position (CPP)/start circuit feeding the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Power comes from fuse panel fuse 17 (10A, hot in start or run) through circuit 640 (R/Y) via splice S215 and connector C250 to the MIL in the instrument cluster, then through circuit 658 (PK/LG), connectors C251, C202, and the VIP Data Link Connector C198 to PCM pin 17. From the ignition switch (hot at all times), a start signal passes through C269, with a note distinguishing 5.8L Lightning from all others, through circuits 32 (R/LB) and 480 (P/Y) via splice S224 to three transmission variants: E4OD (CPP switch jumper), manual transmission (CPP switch that prevents engine startup with clutch pedal released), and C6 (CPP switch jumper), all at connector C261. Circuit 481 (GY/Y) then runs through C202 and C185 to PCM pin 30 (without E4OD). Additional inputs from the air conditioner/heater arrive at PCM pins 10 (883 PK/LB) and 43 (348 P).
