CAUTION: DO NOT allow key to fall from pump shaft during removal. Installation - Original Fuel Injection Pump 1) Ensure gasket surfaces are clean. Ensure engine is at TDC using timing pin. Install new gasket on cylinder block. Install key in fuel injection pump shaft and instal}/fuel injection pump. DO NOT allow key to drop from pump shaft. ' CAUTION: Use care when installing fuel injection pump to prevent key from dropping from pump shaft. 2, . 2) Install mounting nuts. DO NOT tighten nuts at this time. Fuel injection pump must be free to rotate in slots. Install fuel pump drive gear retaining nut and washer. Tighten nut to 1115 ft. lbs. (1520 N.m). 5 3) If fuel injection pump timing marks on fuel injection flange and gear housing were aligned at removal, fuel pump timing does not require adjustment. If marks were not aligned, Check fuel injection pump timing. See FUEL INJECTION PUMP TIMING under ADJUSTMENTS. '7 , p p 4) If timing marks were aligned at removal, rotate pump to align timing marks. Tighten mounting nuts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 N.m). Loosen lock bolt and install special washer under lock bolt. Tighten bolt to 10 ft. lbs. (14 N.m). Tighten drive gear nut to Specification. 5) Disengage timing pin if not previously done. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Install all bolts in rear support. Tighten rear support bolts to cylinderxblock and then to fuel injection pump. Bleed fuel lines. See FUEL LINE BLEEDING. 31 Installation New Or Rebuilt Fuel Injection Pump 1) Ensure gasket surfaces are clean. Ensure engine is at TDC .5 using timing pin. Install new gasket on cylinder block. Install key in fuel injection pump shaft and install fuel injection pump. CAUTION: Use care when installing fuel injection pump to prevent key from dropping from pump shaft. !
