The 1973 Volkswagen Beetle lineup added the 1303 Super Beetle with a curved panoramic windshield and a new padded dashboard, while the standard sedan kept its flat glass. Large round taillights, often called elephant feet, replaced the earlier vertical units across the range. US engines remained the dual-port 1600 flat-four, rated in the mid-40s hp SAE net.
