The 1975 Volkswagen Beetle became the first Beetle sold in the US with electronic fuel injection, using Bosch L-Jetronic and rated 48 hp SAE net. California cars added a catalytic converter the same year. This was also the last year the Super Beetle sedan was offered in the US; from 1976 the strut-front chassis continued only under the convertible.
