Ford E-150
1996 Ford E-150 Specs & Photos
The 1996 Ford E-150 was the final model year for its entire engine lineup: the 4.9-liter inline six, standard since the nameplate's 1975 debut and based on the Ford 300 that dated to 1965, plus the 5.0-liter and 5.8-liter Windsor V8s, were all retired after 1996. Their replacements for 1997 were the 4.2-liter Essex V6 and the overhead-cam 4.6-liter and 5.4-liter Triton V8s. OBD-II onboard diagnostics also became standard for 1996 under federal requirement.
