The 1999 Ford E-150 carried the 1997 refresh forward, pairing the revised front end with an all-modern engine room: the 4.2-liter Essex V6 standard and the single-overhead-cam 4.6-liter and 5.4-liter Triton V8s optional. The Triton V8s were shared with the F-150 and the new Super Duty pickup lines. Ford continued to advertise the Econoline as America's best-selling full-size van, a title it had held since 1980.
