The 2001 Ford E-150 sold as Ford phased in E-Series branding over the long-running Econoline name, a change begun with the 1999 model year even as the hardware carried over. Powertrains stayed the course: the 4.2-liter V6 standard, with 4.6-liter and 5.4-liter Triton V8s optional, each backed by a four-speed automatic. The body-on-frame layout and 138-inch wheelbase were unchanged from the 1992 redesign.
