1994 Ford Bronco/F-150 Distributor Installation - 5.0L 5.8L 7.5L Closed Bowl

This is page 03-07-6 of the 1994 Ford Powertrain/Drivetrain service manual (Aug 1993 printing) covering Econoline, F-150, F-250, F-350, Bronco, and F-Super Duty. The page continues the Removal and Installation section for the ignition distributor, specifically the closed bowl distributor used on 5.0L, 5.8L, and 7.5L engines (4.9L similar). An exploded parts diagram (figure B5110-A) shows both disassembled and assembled views with callouts for the screws (2 required), shaft assembly, Hall effect vane stator switch assembly, rotary vane, octane rod, connector, and base assembly. The Installation procedure lists 13 numbered steps: inspecting the base housing for heat damage or cracks, positioning and securing the stator (screw torque 1.7-4.0 N·m / 15-35 in-lb), installing the octane rod, lubricating the shaft with Engine Assembly Lubricant D9AZ-19579-D (ESR-M99C80-A), using a 1/2 inch deep well socket and Axle Bearing/Seal Plate T75L-1165-B for reassembly, installing the gear thrust washer (4.9L only) or collar and collar pin (5.0L/5.8L/7.5L), and installing the drive gear. A CAUTION warns the EEC-IV distributor drive gear is not serviced separately, if nicked or cracked, the entire distributor must be replaced.
