PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES" ' ' INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Part Description: Ford PMGR starters Part Number: 6124,6131 ,61 32 TYPE A & B BATTERY LEADS MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO STARTER INSTALLATION Make sure the mounting surface of the engine is clean and smooth. Hold starter motor into position at engine block. Install (2) mounting bolts. "lighten to 38 ft lbs. Note: Before operating starter, gear clearance must be checked This starter motor is designed for 12 volt negative ground electrical systems. CAUTION: NEVER OPERATE THIS STARTER MOTOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS AT A TIME WITHOUT ALLOWING IT TO COOL FOR AT LEAST Two MINUTES. OVERHEATING CAUSED BY TOO LONG OF A CRANKING PERIOD WILL DAMAGE THE STARTING MOTOR. m1... = 7m, Cable I12 Gauge 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the starter cable from the starter relay (see gure) and reconnect it to the opposite terminal on the relay. The battery cable and the starter cable will now be on the same relay terminal. 3. Attach the #12 lead supplied in the kit (see 76-2601) to the starter relay post where the starter cable was removed. Route this wire along the starter cable and secure with wire lies supplied in the kit. 4. Remove the eld-wound starter. 5. Remove the starter cable from the starter. 6. Enlarge the starter able terminal hole to 5116' and atten (or remove anti-rotational tabs if they are present on the starter cable). 7. Install the permanent magnet starter. 8. Attach the starter cable to the Starter solenoid terminal using the nut included in the kit (see 85-2401). mm 9. Attach the #12 lead (58676-2601) to the starter solenoid blade :23 terminal (switch terminal). Make sure the connection locks into place. P M M suit , a a m er 10. Snap the termmal cover provided in the kit (see 76-2114) over um I 765.234 the two solenoid posts.
