This document is page 23-6 of a Ford engine controls wiring diagram covering the 4.9L engine. It shows two circuits feeding the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The first is the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) circuit: a 10A fuse (position 17, hot in start or run) in the fuse panel feeds circuit 640 (R/Y) through splice S215 and connector C250 to the MIL in the instrument cluster; circuit 658 (PK/LG) then runs through C251, C202, past the VIP Data Link Connector, and C198 to PCM pin 17. A note explains the MIL lights with the ignition ON prior to cranking, goes off when the engine starts, and is turned on by the PCM if a fault develops. The second circuit is the start/Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch input: the ignition switch (hot at all times) feeds circuit 32 (R/LB) through C269 and S224 to circuit 480 (P/Y), which branches for E4OD, manual, and C6 transmissions. E4OD and C6 use a CPP switch jumper; manual transmissions use an actual CPP switch (via C261) that prevents starting with the clutch engaged.
