Ford Taurus JBL Amplifier Wiring Diagram (No CD) - Radio & Subwoofer Amp 130-8

Factory JBL audio system wiring schematic (page 130-8) showing the JBL amplifier speaker outputs, radio choke, subwoofer amplifier, and connector/circuit IDs for a no-CD configuration.

This is page 130-8 of a Ford factory wiring diagram covering the JBL premium audio system without CD player. It shows the JBL Audio System Amplifier and the separate Subwoofer Amplifier with their power, ground, input, and output circuits. Battery power (hot at all times) comes from a 40A fuse in the engine compartment fuse box on circuit 37 (Yellow), passing through connectors C213 and C450 and splice S405 to feed pin 14 of the JBL amplifier (12V power feed) and, through a radio choke and C462, the subwoofer amplifier. Speaker-level inputs from the radio arrive at connector C453/C454 on circuits 277 LB/BK, 859 Y, 278 P/W, 855 LB, 279 W/R, 858 BR, 280 LG, and 857 W/O, plus logic mute circuit 689 DB. Amplified speaker outputs leave on circuits 813 LB/W, 804 O/LG, 811 DG/O, 805 W/LG, 826 DB/O, 807 PK/LG, 806 PK/LB, and 803 BR/PK, continuing to the speakers on page 130-9. The amplifier grounds on circuit 694 R at G403. The subwoofer amplifier (pins 3 AUDIO+, 4 AUDIO-, 5 MUTE) drives the subwoofer assembly via C464 on BK and BK/W wires, grounded at G404. Useful for diagnosing JBL amp power, ground, mute, and speaker wiring.

Frequently asked questions

What fuse powers the JBL audio amplifier?
A 40A fuse in the engine compartment fuse box (fuse panel), hot at all times, feeding circuit 37 (Yellow wire) — see Power Distribution, page 13-3.
What are the speaker output wire colors from the JBL amplifier?
LF: 813 LB/W (-) and 804 O/LG (+); RF: 811 DG/O (-) and 805 W/LG (+); LR: 826 DB/O (-) and 807 PK/LG (+); RR: 806 PK/LB (-) and 803 BR/PK (+). They exit through connector C454 to the speakers on page 130-9.
Where does the JBL amplifier ground?
Pin 13 grounds through circuit 694 (Red wire) via connectors C454 and C450 to ground G403.
How is the subwoofer amplifier connected?
It receives 12V through a radio choke and connector C462 from circuit 37 Y, takes audio on pins 3 AUDIO(+) and 4 AUDIO(-) plus pin 5 MUTE through C463, and drives the subwoofer assembly through C464 on BK and BK/W wires, grounded at G404.
Which wire is the logic mute circuit for the JBL amplifier?
Circuit 689, a Dark Blue (DB) wire, at amplifier pin 12 through connector C454.
