1993-94 Ford Probe Fuel Pump Relay & PCM Wiring Diagram - IFS Switch Circuit
Ford wiring diagram showing the fuel pump relay, inertia fuel shutoff switch, fuel pump/gauge sender and data link connector to the PCM.
This document is one page (page 6) of a multi-page wiring diagram set covering the fuel pump control circuit of a Ford Probe. It shows power arriving from splice S189 (page 25-1) via circuits 702 R/BK, supplying 12V in START/RUN through connector C152 to the fuel pump relay located in the engine compartment fuse box. When energized, the relay sends voltage on circuit 703 W/Y through C224 to the inertia fuel shutoff (IFS) switch (C426), which opens on vehicle impact to cut power to the fuel pump. From the IFS switch, circuit 738 BL passes through C404 and C419 to the fuel pump/fuel gauge sender (detailed on page 60-1), with ground return on circuit 53 BK to G400 (grounds page 10-13). The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors and controls the circuit via 704 LG through C107 and splice S286, with additional PCM pins 14, 13, 15, 21 carrying circuits 711 LG/R, 712 W/R, 715 R/W, and 704 LG to the Data Link Connector (DLC, C135). Related connections to the electric cooling fan (page 33-2), A/C-heater (page 54-4), and instrument cluster (244 Y/WR via C200, page 60-1) are also indicated, along with connectors C246/C247 and splices S188/S192.

Frequently asked questions
- What does the fuel pump relay do in this circuit?
- Per the diagram callout, when energized the fuel pump relay directs voltage and current to the fuel pump and notifies the PCM. It receives 12V in START/RUN via circuits 702 R/BK through connector C152 in the engine compartment fuse box.
- What is the function of the inertia fuel shutoff (IFS) switch?
- The IFS switch opens on vehicle impact to remove voltage from the fuel pump and stop the flow of gasoline. It connects via connector C426, with output circuit 738 BL going to the fuel pump/fuel gauge sender.
- What wire color feeds the fuel pump from the relay?
- Circuit 703 W/Y (white/yellow) runs from the fuel pump relay through C224 to the IFS switch, then circuit 738 BL continues through C404 and C419 (BK/W) to the fuel pump/fuel gauge sender.
- How is the fuel pump circuit grounded?
- The fuel pump/fuel gauge sender grounds through BK wires via C419 and C404 on circuit 53 BK to ground G400 (see grounds page 10-13).
- Which PCM pins and circuits connect to the Data Link Connector (DLC)?
- PCM pins 14, 13, 15, and 21 carry circuits 711 LG/R, 712 W/R, 715 R/W, and 704 LG through connector C240 down to the DLC at C135.
