This document is page one of a two-page reference list of Ford EEC-IV three-digit Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) applicable to 1991-95 Bronco and F-series trucks. It lists codes 111 through 334, each with a prefix flag column (letters o, r, c indicating the test mode in which the code sets — apparently KOEO, running, or continuous memory) and a plain-language description of the fault. Covered systems include Air Charge Temperature (ACT), Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), Throttle Position (TP), MAP, Mass Air Flow (MAF), oxygen sensors (HEGO) for Banks 1 and 2, adaptive fuel limits, injector pulsewidth faults, ignition circuits (PIP, IDM, SPOUT, CID/CPS, EI/EDIS coil primary failures including dual-plug systems), Thermactor air system faults, and EGR/EVP position sensor faults. A small diagram in the lower-right corner shows the EEC-IV diagnostic link connector (DLC) VIP test connectors C198 (black) and C199 (gray), including pin letters (A-F) and wire circuit numbers with colors: 915 (PK/LB), 914 (T/O), 658 (PK/LG), 359 (GY/R) ↔ 209 (W/P), and 926 (LB/O). This page allows a reader to decode self-test results retrieved from an EEC-IV equipped truck and locate the correct test connector wiring.

This document covers 1991-1995, which may differ from this 1983 Ford Bronco.

Frequently asked questions

What does code 111 mean on a 1991-95 Ford Bronco or F-series?
Code 111 means 'System PASS' — no faults were detected during the EEC-IV self-test.
What do codes 172 and 173 indicate?
172 is a lack of Oxygen Sensor (HEGO) switches indicating lean, Bank 1; 173 is a lack of HEGO switches indicating rich, Bank 1. Codes 176 and 177 are the equivalents for Bank 2.
What does DTC 212 mean?
Loss of IDM input to the processor, or the SPOUT circuit is grounded.
Which codes relate to the EGR system?
327 (EVP circuit below minimum voltage), 328 (EVP voltage below closed limit), 332 (EGR valve opening not detected), and 334 (EVP voltage above closed limit / EVP closed voltage higher than expected).
What are the connector names for the EEC-IV diagnostic test connectors?
C198 (black) and C199 (gray), the VIP test connectors, with circuits 915 (PK/LB), 914 (T/O), 658 (PK/LG), 359 (GY/R), 209 (W/P), and 926 (LB/O).
