The 1983 Volkswagen Beetle came only from the Puebla plant in Mexico; Volkswagen had ended US Beetle sales with the 1977 sedan and 1979 convertible. Air-cooled Type 1 production continued for the Mexican market, and German dealers sold Mexican-built 1200 models in Europe through 1985. Any 1983 Beetle in the US arrived as a private import or carries a title year that does not match the car's original build.
